Budgies
When my girls were poorly last week I was very lucky that my vet was so knowledgeable, but I felt like I couldn't find anything out for myself easily. Does anyone have a really good book on chicken health? I don't mind if it's a bit grim and dismal, it would just be nice to feel a bit more clued up and to be able to say more than "her crop seems to be blocked because it's full in the morning and she's not pooping!" Many thanks for any recommendations!
Mrs Frugal
Victoria Roberts "Diseases of Free Range Poultry" is a good one. ISBN 978-1873580677 I have the Gail Damerow "Chicken Health Handbook" too but don't find it anywhere near as useful as the Victoria Roberts one. Budgies
I ended up buying both Victoria Roberts' book and Gail Damerow's. Am reading the former and really enjoying it - although of course it does include information on other poultry and wildfowl. It's easily categorised, so sections on digestive system, skeleton, egg production etc. Each section then has a problems that can arise section at the end and which products are recommended to treat them with. Very helpful. Will let you know what I reckon to the latter when I get there! Thanks all again for your replies, much appreciated
