Phosphorus
Having just cracked open my damaged hatching egg to see if it was fertile (looks like it possibly could but probably too early too see!) I found these on the internet. Fascinating step by step development piccies - fantastic but not for the squemish http://haha.nu/amazing/the-birth-of-a-chicken/
Griffin
I've seen those pics before, the full set is here http://www.popular-pics.com/pictures.aspx?photoid=817. I find it useful when candling to see what size the chick ought to be, and like you, breaking open the dead ones to see where it all went wrong. Phosphorus
Didn't actually think until afterwards how they got the pictures someone was saying you could get chicks to get as far as hatching in a petri dish with special covering but..... someone else pointed out on the site that the chicks looked different ones in a few pictures - not sure. Would hate to think they had been opened on successive days just for the photos
Jules.
Me & the boys have just awwwed at all the pictures. I do suspect that the eggs were cracked open each day, & that chicks lost their lives for them though At the James Herriot museum in Thirsk they have something similar . I saw it about 10 years ago, & I thought it sad at the time, even thuogh I had no idea then I would become a chicken keeper.

Old Speckled Hen
Thanks, Phosphorus for these. Sad but, I will keep these for my grandson they are very educational. He named one of our hens "Sabre" ...( Huh, you can laugh, my husband called his KYLIE ) and it would be great for him to see where she came from.
