Doing an Omlet Show

Recommended Posts

Well I was too tired to post last night after I got back from Grand Designs at Excel, but just wanted to say to anyone who's thinking of doing an Omlet show, do it because it's great fun! One of the best things was seeing people come round the corner, see the Omlet stand and go 'Ooh, chickens!' and their faces lighting up!

We took quite a lot of orders, but there were lots more people who just wanted to ask some questions, look at the Eglu and Cube, and then go away and think about it. It's tiring but when you're busy you don't notice the time going and we took lots of breaks so I had a chance to look round the show. I was thrilled to discover that lots of stands do discounts for other exhibitors, I do love a bargain!

Most stupid question ... "So when you want to go on holiday, can you just neck them, put them in the freezer and then buy some more when you get back?" Er, well, you could do but they wouldn't make very good eating and it would probably be less trouble to get someone to look after them for a couple of weeks! Most people were genuinely interested, and it was great to be able to tell them all the things I've learned from the forum. When anyone said 'but I don't know how to look after them' I suggested they go on a hen party.

I will definitely do a show again next year if they want volunteers - I know they're still looking for later in the year, so anyone out there who's still thinking about it, go ahead!

I have no idea how to volunteer - I live 5 mins from Tatton and would love to be an Omlet person there...anyone know, please let me know? I bet it's really satisfying - Olly, can just imagine all those faces lighting up when they see the chickens! :D

If we'd all had a quid for every time someone exclaimed that we'd have been on the make :D

I agree with Olly that it is great fun and it is good to meet people from Omlet too.

The added bonus is that I didnt need to go to the gym as I was constantly heaving the Eglu about to show people how it worked!
