alison
I have two eggs a day, generally poached and really enjoy them, but a few times lately, they have tasted very 'earthy'. so much so, this morning I threw away my boiled eggs Anyone experienced this before, I haven't changed their diet in any way, pellets, bokashi, garlic and grit. I have started to give them lifeguard tonic in their water, is that the reason?
Ain't Nobody Here
How strange . I've not heard of that before . The only thing I can find talks about fishy tasting eggs so that's probably not much help . Where do you store your eggs? Could they be tainted?
alison
Interesting article, thank you. I store them on an egg skelter and ceramic egg dishes, on the draining board, not near anything 'smelly' I am wondering if it the battles lifeguard, so the next few barrels of water will be just water! Valkyrie
The whites of mine a couple of months ago tasted slightly metallic while the yolks were fine. It was put down to them gorging on leeks - even though we had fenced them off, they were still managing to scoff away. Things got back to normal once the remaining leeks were harvested - couple of days to get it out their system and the taste was fine. The little bit of Lifeguard doesn't seem to affect ours, although I have stopped giving it to them daily - just once a week or so. I do add cider vinegar to the water in between though.
