BarbaraJ
I have 5 eggs a day now but either Ruby or Ebony always lays larger than average eggs with ok yolks but huge watery whites very strange it seems like her egg making bits are wonky lol they are both perfectly fine and they have been like this for couple of months now, you can't fry them as the white doesnt set so i have to use them for cakes or french toast. Anyone else ever had this? shells fine though always slightly odd shape and large!
smithy36
Are these young girls? I can see that they are new to you. Mine were a little like that to start, particularly from the black rock. All ok now tho - guess its a settling down thing??

chickencam
One of my original Pepperpot Omlet hens laid large eggs with thin whites all of her life, but this is usually a problem that comes with age. 3 of my 5 hybrid girls that are 2 years old lay eggs with thin whites that are best used for baking, whereas my 4 year old Light Sussex still lays eggs of a good quality. I am tempted not to get hybrids next time.
Eggasperated
That sounds exactly like the eggs I've started getting from my Alice. This has only been for the last couple of weeks and she is just over 2 years old, I did wonder if it was the hot weather affecting her (although it's not really that hot here in Scotland) or whether it's her age. I first found one when I fried some eggs and the white was pretty revolting, I haven't been very sure what to do with them - I did try some scrambled and that wasn't too bad. She hasn't laid for the last 3 days so perhaps she is going to have a break for a while, I think I would prefer that as it worries me a bit as these eggs seem always to weigh around 85g.
