I've just ordered...

Recommended Posts

a rather large number of jamjars from here

They will supply jars at a very reasonable cost (much cheaper than Lakeland).

My main expense is getting them shipped over here, mainland delivery would be a lot less.

If anyone needs jars I would recommend them for their low cost and friendly, helpful customer service.

Now all I need to do is find where to store 12 boxes of jars (each box contains 54 jam jars):shock:

Think I'll be making a lot of marmalade and jam this year!

No, you're not being dim. :D

I've ordered the simple round jamjars, 370Food, about a 1lb jar as far as I can see, they are charging me £10.24 per box with 15%vat on top. Lids are £5.61 for 100.

So for a box of 56 jars and lids I pay £11.78 + £3.61 = £15.39 which works out at 28p for a jar and lid, so much cheaper than anywhere else I've found.

But then you have to add in delivery which to here is horrific due to the ferry etc.

I spoke with a lovely efficient lady called Anna, she was very helpful.

As mine are being delivered on a pallet  I think I'll find a space in the garage for them!

 Actually 672, there are 56 in a box not 54 like I first said.

Hopefully they'll last me for a while.

One of the reasons I hardly ever post on here is I'm trying to start a business selling at Farmer's Markets etc and having to keep reordering from Lakeland is costing me a fortune.

It seemed like a good idea at the time.

The lady on the phone did say that delivery to me was the same for 12 boxes...or 42 (the maximum they can get on a pallet) so did I want any more?

42 boxes would be ... 2352 jars

At least I turned this down!

good luck !

Blimey - lots of jars. You'll need to work hard to fill that lot.

I'd love a good Aubergine chutney recipe if you have one.

I've just made a new spiced peach and pineapple jam for serving with meats and cheeses - you'll find it near the top at the moment. Woth a go to see if it's any good to you

I've not made any aubergine chutney but there's a recipe here.

I'm starting with simple marmalades, orange, lemon, lime curd and strawberry jam (very cheap strawberries the other day).

I've a lovely spicy fruity chutney recipe I made at Christmas in my slow cooker if that's any use? It was delicious.

The peach and pineapple jam sounds good, I'll go and have a look, thanks
