ClaireG
How spooky is this? I'd just read the thread on credit card fraud when we phone went. I was the bank someone has used my details to donate to Oxfam, by Cds online at Tesco and try to book two Easyjet flights. It got flagged up as they tried to book flights that were a lot more than i had in my account. Its either been done through something i've paid for online or by the photo methord as described in previous thread. Thank heavens the bank are on the ball. feemcg
...... I suppose donating to Oxfam was to ease their conscience
Ain't Nobody Here
How annoying . That's a new one to me too, charity donations . I suppose that cancels out the fraud .
Seagazer
I think they usually try something like that to see if the card works. Horrible people, as I've said before, we've had it done. Hope you get your money back quickly and gold star to the bank for picking it up.
Martin B
How terrible! Donating to charity! That's a new one!
ClaireG
Luckily, the bank let me get to a cash machine quick before stopping my card. I had to tell them the time i'd be at a machine, so they could ring my mobile and see that i'd got the cash ok and then put a block on my account. There was a penny transcation which they said they often do to test the card, then the Oxfam one which was for £2 and then the Tesco one by the time they tried to book the flights the bank had twigged. All money will be returned to my account and it will take approx a week for me to get a new card and pin. They have said the mostly likely place is a petrol station. They are using the phone method either by you handing them the card or even by someone behind you in queue using mobile and also garage security cameras.
