ajm200
Hi everyone, We are about to get 3 more hens to join our year old Omlet girls who are enjoying the pets life of luxury a little too much and are very hit and miss about laying.. we've even had to buy eggs so time to expand the flock.. We don't want more Omlet girls as both black ones have been prone to prolapses over the past few months and we want to add some variateion to our flock. We are struggling to choose between these meadowsweet hybrids Sussex hybrid (white with black neck and tail) reverse sussex hybrid (opposite colouring to above) Amber gold/Sweet (White with ginger feathers in wings and tail) Blue Belle Speckledy The lady at Southmead has told us that the are all good with children. I want 1 black sussex, white sussex and blue belle DH wants whatever is cheapest but also quite likes the speckledy DS wants all white, all blue belles or all speckledys depending when we ask... Please let me know your opinions and good and bad experiences of keeping these birds. Thanks
Space Chick
I love my Speckledy, she a lovely girl, really friendly and is my best layer. Speckledys are fab
katieadams
We've got an amber star (nearly all white though), a gold star, and a bluebelle and they're all lovely but the bluebelle is the one who gets the admiring comments!
*mummy_hen*
I picked Bluebelle and Speckledy. I don't have either but think they are both lovely and would certainly add some to my flock in the future!
Redwing
I picked Bluebelle and Speckledy. Ditto, my Bluebelle is very pretty and I have heard that speckledys lay lovely darker brown eggs
Barkisland
I'd choose a Bluebelle, an Amber Sweetie and a Reverse Sussex That would give you a nice mix of colours.
