How many chickens in Eglu Cube

Ideally I want to end up with 3 girls, I was obviously thinking 6 eggs as 50/50 chance, however I dont want to end up over run so am nbow thinking 4. what do you think?

I have spent the entire afternoon looking at breeds and hatching eggs, think we are decided on a mix of silkie, bantam wyandottes and pekin.

I have six eggs in my inccy and realisticaly would be pleased to get one girl

 

not all the eggs may hatch so you are looking at 50% of those that hatch for your girls not 50% of the eggs put in

 

Extra girls would be easy to sell on or give away so I would go for 6 eggs

Actually now you say that I am sure the friend who is going to have any cockrels would certainly have any extra girls, how on earth would you decide which ones to keep though.

I had this problem last week only want another 1 or 2 girls really.. was lucky with my hatch last year with 4 out 6 hatching and 3 were girls but this was a bit of a fluke!

 

This time have 8 eggs as work on the basis of 5/6 hatching with a good chance of a couple of girls.. of coirse I could end up with loads of boys which is not a problem or of course too many girls

 

Personally I would go for at least 6 as long as boys can go somewhere.

Well we put 11 eggs under our broody hen hoping to eventually get 4 girls. We thought we'd get about 8/11 fertility and approx 50% would be boys!

 

Well we had 11 out of 11 hatch So far 2 (may be 3) are definately boys 2/3 definately girls and we'll have to wait a bit longer to see what we eventually end up with .

We will keep whatever we get but I feel the need for another coming on
