Prolapsed vent - am I getting it right?

As we all know, eglus and cubes are expensive and desirable items with a good resale value.

 

As if I didn't have enough to concern myself with during the run up to my cube delivery, I started to think about contents insurance. (I know, I need to get out more).

 

I checked my policy and it stated that possessions in the garden are covered up to £500.

 

Have there been any reports of eglus and cubes being stolen?

I hadn't even given that a second thought. Its a fair weight though, so would have thought you need some rather crazed and determined thieves.

I have told my husband I want a proper lock on the WIR to try to protect the eglu and put off thieves.

I've heard - sadly - some reports of chickens being stolen, but I haven't heard of an Eglu or Cube being stolen. Although easy to move in the garden, they're not the most portable of things so hopefully that would put off anyone except a very determined thief.

 

And personally, I wouldn't put one in the car unless it had been thoroughly hosed down I don't think anything is totally theft-proof these days though. You wouldn't think anyone would want to steal a used doormat, would you, but mine went!

I think that there has been at least one Eglu theft reported here on the forum

Yes, I remember a green one being stolen a couple of years ago. We never heard anything more.
