zig zaging fox protection or time wasting?

Recommended Posts

I've just been building a zig zag walkway entrance into my chook house. I seem to remember reading somewhere that Foxes can't go through zigzags. Does anybody know if this is right? I'm wondering whether I'm wasting my time

To put it in context; the chickens will not be having their door shut each night as they are not living in my garden. They are going to be guarded by alpacas who are supposed to chase foxes away (or even deter them by smell). However, i'm being a worry wart and am wondering what will happen if I happen to get three alpacas who have an un-natural liking for foxes!

Any thoughts or comments about zigzagging foxes greatfully received :)

I've heard of this before - although have no experience of it. the theory is the length of a fox's body cnnot bend around a 90degree bend within a confine tunnel but a shorter chook can. I suppose you always try a solar powered timed door too?
