rdgmartin
Hi, We have just taken delivery of our first Eglu and a couple of chickens. They arrived on Thursday afternoon and we were very good and didn't let them out until Monday pm so the best part of 5 days imprisonment The cats are getting used to them - as is the OH and the neighbours came round to admire Was amazed to discover two soft eggs in the bottom of the poo tray today though - should they be starting so soon? TYIA for any advice - most posts on this sort of topic seem to be lamenting slow starters
Budgies
welcome to the forum and to your new girls! Great that they're settling in nicely. The pullets are generally supplied at point of lay. Like humans, hens develop at slightly different rates, so you've got one just at the right time by the sounds of things! A few softies initially is generally nothing to worry about - it sometimes takes a few attempts for their egg laying tackle to get into gear properly, but if it persists there are some good threads on here about boosting their calcium (limestone flour or ground up cuttle fish bone are easiest). Do let us know how they progress - sounds like you'll be celebrating eating that first egg really soon!!

tidygirlsuk
Congratulations on your arrival of eglu, chickens and first egg. The eglu is great isn't it !? It's so much easier to clean than my wooden house. What colour is your eglu ? Have you taken pictures yet ?
