Solitary chicken - need advice

£ had very small veins I think although it was hard to tell, the othrs looked really mottled, when I have looked for images on the internet it doesnt look good for the mottled ones, anyone know if they are OK or not.

I was just going to leave them in anyway and try again on day 10.

Is day 4 now btw.

I'd keep going. You might find that Hufflepuff will boot any that are duds out of the nest.

Keep going, its only day 4 I thought one of mine was a no-goer but left it in anyway. Checked yesterday and there is some definite movement in there

Thanks, after the baby bird earlier I was starting to feel a bit . me and oh must have looked a site locked in the cellar head with a maglite. I think the neighbours think we are barmy.

I was banking on her doing that, she has already got rid of one the first day (and I think she may have eaten it as I couldnt find much of it).

Ooo a bit early to tell yet! I candle between 8 to 10 days. I can always tell then. Mottled usually means they are clears / infertile. You'll know in a few days. I've always seen enlarged air sacs & the peep floats as a little blob towards the light, with a spider of veins coming from it. It's gorgeous to see. I then leave well alone, once confident I have fertile eggs & remove any clears or 'bad' eggs.

candled again, sorry cant help it, I want to watch the progress.

6 fertile 1 had a hair line crack so i got rid of it, cracked it open and I dont think it was ever fertile.

It was amazing to see the little spider kind of floats away from the light.

Does the air sac get bigger or smaller?
