jomaxsmith Posted May 29, 2009 Share Posted May 29, 2009 I noticed a fledgling magpie in the garden earlier but left it to its own devices thinking that was the best thing to do. Just heard a commotion and found it had wandered into the hen pen and Lily was pecking it. I think she has broken its wing but I was too much of a wimp to put it out of its misery (I wouldn't know how) so I've put it over the fence into the field behind. Years ago I witnessed a magpie attacking a baby blackbird - I did rescue it, but it died of it's injuries, but it didn't stop me liking the birds - it's just natural - they have their good sides too.
