indigopurple
i got my ex batts yesterday. they have been out of the factory three weeks and a sanctury have been looking after them. two are in good condition and i also picked the very bald one. she is at the bottom of the pecking order but today has been holding her own a little more, she has been in the run all of the day pretty much and i have seen her eat and drink from the main feeders and drinkers as well as the others one i have put everywhere to try and reduce all the bullying. however this afternoon i have noticed there are little feathers everywhere and she appears to have pulled them off her front! i am figuring if it was the other chickens it would be her wings (she only has feathers coming through on her back) her front seems quite sore now. now i am worried again. i thought it was all going to well. she was even snuggled up to one of the other chickens today in the shade. theherd123
Oh dear chooks can be such a worry cant they! I'd keep a close eye on things and see if she is being bullied for sure - if this is the case i would remove the bully for a short period to help relieve the problem and give the featherless girl a chance to get established. Watch that her chest doesnt become any worse and you can always use some purple spray on it to help it heal and hopefully stop the pecking/feather pulling. indigopurple
She is being bullied but has been out in the run for 80% of the day and ate from the main drinkers and feeders. Would other chickens peck at her front? They are a worry. The other two are doing great but Tarot seems to be really struggling.
Egluntyne
It is early days yet, indigopurple. Try not to worry. Things will settle down and she will soon start feathering up. She is not being prevented from eating and drinking,....that is the main thing.
Lewis
They're just sorting out the pecking order and sorting out who is the boss. As Egluntine said, she'll be fine as long as she's getting to eat a drink. Can't wait to see them
