Katy
I was clearing out the spare room at the weekend and came upon the leftover free seed potatoes from Fothergills merrily chitting away in their box in a corner . I ran out of space originally and had intended to give them to my parents but clearly forgot! I now have a couple of dustbins that are surplus to requirement and wonder if it is too late to bung them in those now for a late crop - any idea? I've never grown potatoes before so I'm pretty clueless. Thanks!
Chook n Boo Mum
I'm almost as inexperienced, but I've got some on the windowsill too ! I'm going to stick them in & hope they come up ok..... if they don't, that's life & one to chalk up to experience...... if they do great an unexpected (because we forgot they were there !!) harvest !! chickencam
If they are in a dustbin you can move them to shelter when the weather gets colder, but I would have thought given plenty of water you should get a late crop of new potatoes. Katy
Thanks everyone . Right that's decided then I'll bung them in tomorrow and hope for the best - if nothing else it puts to use the inordinate amount of 'bargain' potting compost the OH bought home!
