miffy
We have finally got our 3 Lohan hybrids together in the eglu so can now begin planning which breeds to get for the cube with standard run. We would like to get 2 hybrids and 2 breeds, is that too much for a standard cube? Can anyone recomend a breeder in Cornwall, I have looked at Cornish Meadow Poultry on internet, but am a bit concerned as they say the chickens are bred and raised in sussex for them!! has anyone used them. We have a number of places here that sell chickens, but am a little wary without a recomendation. The folk we bought our Lohans from were great and we have had no health issues BUT they are not the friendly type we were assured they were!!! We have someone coming on Monday to look at finishing the hard standing OH started
chelsea
I only know one in Cornwall and that's Hendra Farm Poultry near Looe. http://www.hendrafarmpoultry.co.uk If you can stretch to a drive up to Devon, (Crediton) the Devon Traditional Breed Centre is excellent, I would throughly recommend their birds - they are not cheap but you get what you pay for. miffy
Thanks Chelsea, have checked out the web sites, not sure which to go for. Do I choose breed or breeder first...rhetorical question I guess
chocolateeclaire
Hi, I recently got my chickens from the Traditional Breed Centre near Exeter. Would highly recommend them and they will help you with picking the right breeds for your needs. Really healthly stock and a lovely place just to visit and roam around - also great coffee shop!!! Groovychook
Hi Miffy, only just seen this thread... we got four of our girls from Nick at Cornish Meadow Poultry! They're all lovely & we've had no problems with them at all- I can't tell you what his set up was like though, as I was recovering from an op & OH went to collect them. We got our Araucana's from a breeder the other side of Exeter but I can't remember his name! It wasn't the traditional breeds centre though... Groovychook
Was it Moonridge Farm Groovychook? There are also on the outskirts of Exeter. No, it wasn't there- seem to remember that they didn't have a website... found their details in the back of a poultry magazine. Think that they were near Broadclyst I'm sure it'll come to me soon!!!
