4m x 3m Omlet pen, cube, new auto door still boxed and coop light

My white star SweetPea has always had slightly odd looking feathers on her 'throat' - they looked sort of greasy & wet.

Then she lost them in the same area, & had a bald patch.

Then she started laying softies, then after a couple of weeks,stopped laying altogether...

The feathers are now growing back.

 

Now, she is in great health apart from this - bright & perky & very fast!

She has been wormed & I Ivomec them all every 3 months, the last time being about 3 weeks ago.

 

Any ideas what it could be?

 

Just noticed that Fern, my light Sussex also has the wet lookinf feathers in the same area

How strange... could it be caused by something as simple as the way they reach in to their water containers?

Ivomec is an anti bug / louse / worm drop that goes onto the back of the neck.

It is not liscenced for use on poultry in the Uk though, but a fair few of us do use it & it works really well.

 

Its used to treay humans & livestock for worms in Africa

 

I will see if it rubs against the Grub when she feeds - good idea!

One of my hens has a greasy-looking patch on her neck feathers, and I thought I'd read on here that it was because of some gland?? Like hamsters get that little damp patch on their flanks.

 

But I am not sure - I could easily have just made it up - my OH always says I either imagine or forget whole conversations!!
