Just thought it might be an idea to get a list of people you have bought hatching eggs from what breed they were and if they have been good eggs or bad eggs.

It's not always a case of if the eggs were good or not. Many factors affect the hatch rate of fertile eggs, especially with incubators. So not sure this would be a good idea.

I mean the fertility of the supplied eggs not the hatch rate. Just thought it would be good to point people in the right direction of good suppliers. I have just started hatching and i bought my first eggs and put them under my broody and 3 of 3 of the wyandottes i got are not fertile. So would have been nice to have had a list that was recommended by the good people on here.

I picked up 4 eggs and they were all fertile. PM me if you like. He does post but I picked up. 3 hatched 1 didn't but it was fully formed.

It might be a good idea not to 'name and shame' the suppliers of eggs that don't hatch.

 

As has been said, there are umpteen reasons why things don't go according to plan, many beyond the control of the supplier, and the eggs never come with 100% guarantees in any case.

 

Pms detailing experiences would be fine.

I am going to post about a good experience so I hope its ok to name the seller

 

I bought seven eggs from Wiltshire Chickens in Bradford on Avon and all were fertile, the seller was really helpful and you can see her chickens when you go to collect

I am begining to wish i never put this post on here. Ok I wasn't saying we shouldn't name and shame suppliers of eggs that don't hatch (but infertily is a bit different). I still think that it would be a good idea to at least have a list of egg suppliers like the list of breeders on the wiki.

That's a good idea. The majority of eggs I've bought are from Ebay so it'd be useful to have a list of good sellers usernames.

 

Likewise, I'm happy to provide by PM the name of the person who sold and continues to sell rubbish Cream Legbar eggs on Ebay although a search through the feedback left for him speaks for itself yet people still buy
