Hi Again,

My arrived yesterday and I am thrilled with it as are . Just one little question (at the moment anyhow), should I leave their feed in the feeder in the run all day, so they just help themselves. I am a bit confused when I read on the forum about morning and afternoon feeds. Dont want my ending up as fat as barrells.

Hi Congratulations.

 

I leave the food in the run during day time and then take the grub in at night when they have gone to sleep.

Hello Kit, thanks for that advice. I did that yesterday, just wanted to make sure that was right. They seem to be eating non-stop, hopefully thats a sign that they are content, or just plain piggy!!!!

Congratulations on the . I leave the grub in all day too and take it indoors at night.

 

The "morning and afternoon feeds" refer to letting them fill up on layers pellets in the morning which have the right nutrition for laying eggs and holding back on the corn and other treats till later in the day so they've had enough pellets. Too much corn can make them fat which can reduce laying .

They need to be able to help themselves to food on an ad lib basis all day long. You might want to bring it in at night after they have gone to roost, to prevent vermin coming.
