jackiepoppies
One of my girls seems to have a prolapse. What is the best way to deal with this? Many thanks in advance. Jx
-sarahjayne
You need to deal with this ASAP. Either take it to the vet who will put it back in for you or you can try it yourself with some sort of lubricant and push it gentle back in to the vent be very careful not to twist the mass in any way as this could harm your girl. Your hen will be in a lot of pain and discomfort if you leave it and this may even to lead to death. Once the problem is solved leave her on her own with water away from the others and watch her. Egluntyne
I would separate her immediately so that the others don't investigate. I'd also bathe the area with cool water and using some lubricant, as has been said, push it back in. I would then keep her somewhere quiet and dark for a few hours. If it is very swollen and won't go back in, some haemorrhoid ointment will shrink it sufficiently that you should be able to push it back in.
