strange behaviour ?

Recommended Posts

anyone know what this is all about ?

florrie has been in and out of the nest box since yesterday and finally laid an !eggspeck! this afternoon, but when she was in the nest box, betty would just stand there looking in and would cluck very loudly continously. She never tried to have a go at florrie, but once florrie had laid she was quiet again ? I have two nest boxes in the coop but only one has been used twice, so its not like there wasn't a nest for her !

any ideas as to what this behaviour might be ? Matilda wasn't bothered and didn't make any comotion, but she did do in one as if to tell betty off and after that she was quiet, but soon started again !

We have 3 hens and it can be quite noisy around egg laying time!

Ginger seems to be first to lay,...whilst she is in the nest box altough theres in tonnes of room Midnight will stand on the roost bars and do her egg announcement shouting as if to say "hurry up" I need to get in!" then Ginger will kick off when she has laid and shout as she comes down the ladder. Whilst all of that is going on Tinker who hates being left alone downstairs also starts announcing, it can be soooo loud!

Also because I leave their cube door open, when they get up at dawn, they have started alarm calling! much to my disgust! I am sure there is nothing in the garden! well nothing I can see anyway
