The hens have been in for 4 days now and everything was looking good until today, when I picked them up one had a sore wing (giblet) and the previous owner said that the other 2 picked on her. So far nugget seems to of been the dominant one but today dipper who is the biggest has been jumping on giblets back and standing on her pecking the back of her neck. Nugget doesn't seem to get involved, as they have been living together before we got them we thought the pecking order would have been sorted by now. Does the pecking order change as they are in a new enviroment. Just seems weird as giblet runs past dipper then gets caught and stood on. No harm seems to be happening but its not happened before today, any help is appreciated.

They may be unsettled by moving - a bit of jumping-on the bottom hen is normal, just to remind them where they stand, but do keep an eye out for any injuries because things can turn nasty very quickly. Once blood is drawn, it's irresistible and the pecking will increase.

Have you got any purple spray? It might act as a deterrent.

Hi

Sounds like scaley leg mite possibly  If you look in the clinic and FAQs section there are pics and remedies. One of my Orps has it at the moment.

I have Johnson Anti-mite spray and purple spay if you want a lend. Pets Corner in town do scaly lotion too I think.

Surgical spirit and vasaline are also recommended remedies if it is scaley leg.
