BeckyBoo
....for those of you that make your own butter, 600ml of double cream is on offer at Sainsburys at the moment, for £1. And 600ml of cream makes 340g of butter so, provided it's not on special, that makes home made butter cheaper than Anchor! Thought I'd share the good news, that'll be my freezer stocked with garlic butter, chive butter and all the other fab herbs in the garden! redhotchick
I've bought a tub of this each of the last 2 weekends. I intended to make butter with any left over after pudding was served, but I've ended up eating a big tub each week one way or another
Guest
2 shed's parents have a wholesaler's card and I just bought a case of 20 packs of butter from the wholesalers, (worked out at about 70p a pack and Aldi's is about 80p) but that cream is a bargain! a small carton in aldi (284ml) is 60p and I thought that was cheap cos in the co-op it's 80p!!!! I use cream for quiche and ice cream, I just don't live near a sainsbury store! If I were you, I'd fill my boots, or at least my freezer!!!!! Valkyrie
In our Sainsbury's I have to be careful, sometimes the sell by date is a little too close to the day of purchase. I like the idea of DIY garlic butter - from scratch though, and the herbs. I don't know if the offer lasts to next Thursday when I go with mum, but I use double cream for cooking, so fingers crossed.
