Drinker problem

Recommended Posts

I bought a chick safe drinker but broody doesn't seem to be able to drink from it as it's small. What can I do as obviosuly in this heat she needs to drink. I put the glug in hoping she'd have a supervised drink but I had to get it out as she called the chicks over. The drinkers already full of bits as well as I'd forgotten how far she kicks everything. Sure it's that extra toe

Hi Anne

Are you able to get a water bottle like the ones used for rabbits and place it up out of reach of the chicks?

I have four of the 1 litre ones aournd the main run and use two in the chicks area one low and one high.. both mum and chicks use them easily :D chicks used it from 1 day old.. they also have a chick drinker but gets so messy so the rabbit bottles are much better and I know the water won't run out or get spilt.. been using for last 2 months and really recommend!

Well, bunny bottle is a no no and the chick drinker is getting stuff kicked into it within about 5 minutes. Filled a shallow dish with glass beads and water and that got buried. Only solution I can see is for us to raise the rabbit hutch high and for DH to build a ramp at the weekend!

I'd forgotten how high and far my DC can kick stuff.
