lyd119
Hi, We are getting 4 's in a couple of weeks. they will all be POL hybrids so won't be really small. our 6 ft fence is a picket fence style with gaps of 6-7 cm. would they be able to squeeze through this or would we need to put chicken wire there to keep them in when they free range??? Thanks in advance, Lydia
atsw
At POL, it's not so much about keeping the chickens in, but keeping unwanted visitors out. A 6cm-7cm gap is ample for a Rat, Weasel, Stoat, etc etc. Mr Fox could also get a paw through and take a swipe. Andrew
Plum
That's right but it should be fine for keeping them in. You can always run a bit of chicken wire along the bottom if they do manage it. Take care if they can jump on something they may still get over a 6 foot fence. You just have to retrieve them and clip a wing to slow them down or tie their legs together or something.
