Eggs changing Colour

Recommended Posts

Me again

One of my Hens,Lady Lay, Has started laying eggs everyday for the past 2 weeks, but i have noticed something.

Her eggs started out pinky cream then they went to really dark brown (looked slightly red), then to cream, then to light brown and now they are brown with dark brown spots?

Is this normal? :eh:

My other hen,Orakiah, Lays light brown eggs with the occasional dark brown spots

Dear Raina,

Sorry I don't have an answer but I was going to ask more or less the same question!

My GNR usually lays a brown speckledy egg very day, but today laid a very pale cream one!

No change to diet or anything?

The only difference is that the weather has been a bit darker today and for the last few days?

Surely that's not the cause?

Hopefully it's just one of those Chicken things, unexplained and bizarre!!!!!!!!

Hi Jackie & Holly,

She's still doing it lol

I hope it is something to do with the weather, as i already have enough odd pets LOL

My other Hen, Orakiah has started to lay everyday about the same time as Lady Lay, and her eggs are still the same colour

Thanks,

Raina

Dear Raina,

Since I wrote last we are now getting a real range of eggs from both chickens!

They seem absolutely fine though, fingers crossed

We also get a range of sizes from both hens too, though no double yolkers for a long time!

I suppose they're like us, they have good days, bad days, big eggs, smaller eggs..........

Still think it might be to do with the weather/seasons

Don't worry too much! (she says, being the biggest worrier ever since getting chickens!!!)

My daughter loves the name Lady Lay by the way!!!
