Natural remedies for PMT

Recommended Posts

I have been on my current pill for 14 years now with no problems but recently, since Christmas, I have been getting PMT each month. Not too bad but I just hate the low feeling.

Does anyone on here use any natural remedies which help but does not stop the pill working? I know that St Johns wort can affect the pill so obviously that's not an option.

Many thanks.

 lol

It's on my shopping list along with some evening primrose oil for good measure. :D

Yep- PMT is not much fun although I haven't been too bad really just tired, tearful and generally feeling a bit down. It doesn't last long-only a couple of days but it feels like a long time when you're low.

Used to get it really bad and got quite depressed when I was younger but the pill helped alot-now it's creeping back 14 years later while on the pill so I want to stop it now! :talk2hand:

Thanks peeps

Also, do you take it every day or just around the lead up to when you would get PMT?

sorry to hear you've been feeling poorly. pmt can be so debilitating.

taking b6 is a good idea however be mindful that the b vitamin group work in synergie with each other so if you take b6 in isolation its on the provision that the rest of the b group are present. unlikely.

take a b complex, ideally with 10mg of zinc a day.

cold pressed oils are also beneficial such as linseed, hemp, evening primrose. pour a teaspoon on your salad to disguise it.

there are herbal supplements such as agnus castus, dong quai, black cohosh.

i would always check with your doctor before you go any further as there could be an underlying health problem. pmt is common in oestrogen dominace in the body so maybe a change of pill for a while.

if you feel the blues coming on watching your lovely chickens scratching and clucking is fantastic therapy.

hope you feel better soon

best wishes

I would go and have a chat with your GP as well. It may be that you need to change your pill as you have been on it for such a long time.

I suffer from terrible pms and have been working with my doctor for a while now trying to get the right combination for me! I'm now on my second lot of pill (Celeste) the firs one didn't work. I am also taking a vitamin B6 supplement that my doctor prescribed. I take it for the 2 weeks leading up to my period. I find it helps a lot. xxx
