eggregiousness
I have a roll of Omlet netting in case I need to barricade off certain parts of the garden. I was wondering whether 10 week old Cochin chicks would be able to get through it? Conversely, would the local cats be able to get through it to the chicks and, if so, will 10 week old Cochins be big enough to see off the cats? I have no idea what size my 10 week old babies will be when they arrive next week
Griffin
I have two 11 week old Brahmas, I guess they're similar in size to what Cochins would be right now and mine can squeeze through the netting. They're the same size as my Silkie hen now and I doubt they'll be able to squeeze through for much longer. Each day it seems more of a struggle for them
teri
could you use a double layer of the mesh so that the holes are smaller as a tempoary measure until your chicks get bigger? i had to do this with the chicken wire i used on the run my chicks live in just a thought. i dont have the omlet netting so don't know if this would work? eggregiousness
That's what I suspected Griffin Never mind - it won't be long befire it does the job Teri - that's a good idea but the squares on the Omlet netting are pretty big - around 3 inches x 3 inches so I think that would be very tricky to do - good idea though
Lesley
We use Omlet netting to keep the farm cats off the veggie plots - they won't go over it as it's unstable so as long as there are no gaps for cats to get under then your chickies will be safe from cats. missdiane
Can any Omlet netting owners tell me are the plastic poles sturdy and how high is the netting and will they be likely to fly over? mine had wings clipped yesterday and we are looking for temporary netting to use whilst we are out in garden to give them more exercise/enjoyment. This looks like a good buy
