Hi, my mobile phone was stolen at the weekend. I have since had the sim card and handset blocked. Does anyone know if whoever has my phone still has access to all my contacts?

No, they can't get onto anything. If they were to turn on the phone, it would say 'contact service provider' or 'handset blocked', if they put the sim into another phone, it would say 'sim blocked'.

Thanks Fred, I feel a lot better knowing that.

 

It didn't occur to me to check this when I asked them to block them, and they are closed now until tomorrow morning so it would have been playing on my mind until then.

My new phone has the security key guard on and a pin number set on the sim card so at least I know if it ever happened again that my phone and info is a lot more secure.

 

tbh I thought I had just lost the phone until I checked my account and found out someone had tried to make calls from my phone

Not that it'll help you now that the phone's actually gone, but when you get a replacement you might like to consider registering its identification (IMEI) number on the National Mobile Property Register.

Thanks for the site, will register the new one. I might still have the box with the IMEI number on it for the old phone somewhere so if I find it I will register that too.
