ive finally ordered my WIR and new for my birthday!

 

having a 12 x 9 run and putting the new cube on the outside. im going to plant around the run with colour coordinating purple flower plant! i love coordinating!

 

already got the slabs down as using one of the patios at the end of the garden. not sure whether to take a couple of the slabs up to put plants in? what do you think? if poss what plants would be best? i have no idea?

 

so exciting! and my 3 girls will love it- they better the spoilt madams! room for more maybe

Great news about the WIR too! very lucky ladies!

 

Regarding the planting.....might it be a better idea to plant up pots and put them on the slabs? This means they will be higher up so out of the way of scrathcing feet and also if you find the girls take a liking to eating them you can move them away from the run so money not wasted

 

How about planting up purple trugs with things like rosemary and lavender, my girls don`t touch ours. So still co-ordinating!

Beat me to it! Rosemary and lavender smell divine - anything to mask the small of chicken poo is a bonus!

Good luck its a very rewarding thing keeping chickens and the omlet housing is fab

 

I got 5 chickens in my and plan to restock with a couple of newbies next year my ideal plan to keep the eggs on the go!

 

You will find them so easy to keep

There is another thread running about lemon balm in chicken runs . I have a pot which the girls haven't touched so plan to put it in the run somwhere. (You just have to watch they don't dry out if you have a roof on - I empty the glug onto my WIR plants every evening!)
