WitchHazel
Just under a week old, and the chicks are developing incredibly quickly! They aren't really growing, but their proper feathers are developing so fast. The Ixworths have taken to standing in the food trough and Salsa-ing, so all the food gets chucked over the edge and falls through the flooring grid. The Sassos are turning out to be really bold and friendly, hopping onto our hands at every opportunity, and two of them are happy to snuggle down and sleep in my cupped hand. The Boldest one started to hop up onto the door cill everytime we opened the door so, with everything else, we decided to move them to their new home. It's a large circular enclosure, with an inner cardboard enclosrure directly under the heat lamp. They can move freely between the two, so there is less chance of them overheating. They also now have a standard upright feeder instead of the baby trough feeder. There are some pics of them in their toddler pen here; http://witchhazelhens.blogspot.com/2009/08/chicks-move-house-part-2-with-pics.html
