do i have the worlds broodiest ever chicken??

For those of you who have met beauty you will know that she is my broody silkie.

she went broody...i got some eggs...they all failed :( ...she was still broody ...i got some more eggs...seven hatched :D ...they are ten weeks old......beauty still an attentive mum driving chicks mad!...chicks are free ranging with the big girls...beauty walking round pacing up and down clucking anxiously....chicks ignoring her....chicks and big girls intergration success!!...beauty not happy...still pacing...beauty returns to main coop while big girls are out...beauty finds three fresh eggs... beauty hasn't come out for nearly an hour!!!!! :doh:

i don't think my hubby would agree with that! i think i will get away with it again next spring as i'm going to breed my frizzle chicks and i have no doubt beaty will hatch them for me!...i don't think the dog would cope with any more chickens just yet either! bless him

I bought Tiger Lily three months ago with her day old Brahma chicks. She was determined to stay with them for as long as possible and I only managed to break her by making them sleep separately for a few nights at eight weeks. She laid about ten eggs and is now on day 3 of sitting on some bantam Poland & Brahma eggs :lol: They're Silkies, it's what they do best!
