pinkmagic Posted August 20, 2009 Share Posted August 20, 2009 My chickens have lice and despite liberally powdering them and their house with barrier louse powder every few weeks I can't seem to completely kill off the little blighters! I think they must have originally come in on the ex batts we adopted. Any suggestions on how we can get rid of them once and for all. Falkor Posted August 20, 2009 Share Posted August 20, 2009 I think it is Barrier Louse Powder that is a preventative rather than a cure....could be wrong. I had them (well the chooks), thought I had gotten rid only to find them again a month later Diatom will kill the live lice as it scratches their nasty little bodies and dehydrates them and a squirt with Johnson Anti-Mite (not licensed for poultry in UK) today and in 7 days should see off the lice. the second spray is to deal with any eggs that hatch.
