If you search 'Rubber chippings' you'll find several posts about this.

 

They did seem a good idea and were recommended by someone in Practical Poultry a few months ago, but quite a few people on here have complained that they ended up rather smelly and hard to clean out. I don't have any experience of them myself, so can't really advise on that.

Have you considered wood chip? It works great on the floor of our cube. It doesn't get too muddy and it certainly helps with the smell as the hens do a great job of digging through it. Every other month we top it up or remove it and add more wood chips.

 

Our local council allow us to collect their wood chips for free. Previous to discovering this, we bought the wood chip from B&Q.
