Recommended Posts

Ia anyone there or does anyone have children there?

Lisa33 is at Reading I know, as is my daughter, her friend,my sister & brother 8)

Just had a text from Devon saying that she is staking out the barrier area ready for Kaiser Chiefs at 8.30 & Placebo at 7.00 - I do hope she is careful

I will be watching the coverage on BBC3 this evening, looking out for a girl with long pink & blue hair

Happliy she is not camping over the weekend, although this does mean that I have to go & pick them ao at stupid o'clock for the next 3 nights

Well, we have had a bit of a thing

The pal Devon went with got sick while she was there - hot, dizzy, nausea.

The 2 of them had split up & the Vodafone signal went down, so I had to go & pick her up,leaving Devon there on her own,as I couldn't contact her in any way

The friends parents drove down & have taken her home, so effectively Devon now can't go tomorrow or Sunday as I don't want her going on her own (she is only 16)

Luckily Devon called me when the Kaisers had finished, got herself on the shuttle boat & we have just got home, but goodness I have had a worrying couple of hours knowing she was there alone & not being able to do anyhting about it at all

I've been watching this evening. Saw the end of Placebo who I like and wish I saw more of. Saw the last song from Little Boots who I wish I liked but just don't. Didn't seen any of Florence and the Machine as I find her singing just a bit too cringy especially when she tries to sing the higher notes. Saw the beginning of Kaiser Chiefs who are good, but I just found their set just a bit boring. And what was it with Dire Straites 'money for nothing' as their intro track? Not heard them do that before. Unless of course they do it all the time and I just never see that bit.

Am currently watching Kings of Leon who are brill! :D

Yet to see Devon though. I'll keep on looking!

OK, I have a question................

Devons' pal has now gone home which is a long way away & has left her weekend wristband which we should be able to re use.

How closely do they look at them for weekend re entry? Its a bit s"Ooops, word censored!"ped on the metal, but looks ok apart from that.

At least this way she can go tomorrow & see Radiohead with someone - I am loath to let her go alone :?

Hope your daughters are having a great time. :D

My son and his friend (16 too) are there today. DH had to take them to Oxford this morning to catch the train and has got to drive down to Reading tonight (about 2 and a half hours from Leicestershire)! to pick them up.

:(

James has no coat or fleece of any description with him (I did try)! :wall:

I think he owes his dad some big favours and lots of grovelling tomorrow!

Sue

P S Hope it`s not raining as hard in Reading as it is here :(

Its dry here Bettyhen, but really not very warm at all.

But I wouldn't worry, one of mine went in shorts today. They will be bouncing around which will keep them warm!

Just had a text to say mine are on the barrier for Bloc Party & are hoping to stake it out for Radiohead!

I`ve heard from him ONCE today :shameonu: BOYS!!!

Sure he`s having a great time though! :D

It might not be his fault those festivals are TERRIBLE for mobile phones. You call someone and theirs doesn't ring. Or you get constant "no network coverage" messages and you just don't bother with a text as it can be quicker to write a letter - nip down the road to post it and wait for the postman to deliver it to their house!

I was at V a week ago and suffered from all of these problems. I got one text 3 days later!!!

The networks simply can't cope with that number of people in one location - they are not built for it.

I agree - just the sheer volume of traffic means that many texts don't come through for hours.

We were lucky, but had a sticky couple of hours when Devons' friend was ill & no one could contact her to ask how & where she was :?

I am truly suffering today from 3 night being up until 2.30am.

I feel like a wreck, & I didn't even go to the Fest! :roll::lol:

I got my ED - The Lurker - back from Leeds today. That was after a phone call yesterday that started out - "don't worry, I'm fine...now". You just know you don't want to hear the rest of it, don't you?

Lads throwing items - including cans - around campsite ended with a head injury, lots of blood and a concussion-alert!

I'm glad I went to Reading. Loved most of the bands and comedians. But can't be doing with most of the idiots that go to music festivals over here. Don't know how people cope with camping at Reading. I only ever did that once and that was enough.

I enjoy the comfort of my hotel room now :D

Anyway I saw loads of stuff this wwekend:

Great:

KOL, Placebo, Kaiser Chiefs, Manchester Orchestra, The Horrors, Vampire Weekend, Eagles of Death metal, Radiohead, 65 Days of Static, Fight Like Apes, Atreyu, The Gallows, AFI

Red Light Company, White Lies and Loads more whose names have temporarily slipped from my brain

Rubbish:

Lethal Bizzle, The XXs, Lost Prophets (gutted as I really like some of their stuff)

I even managed to squeeze in a bit of time at the comedy stage and saw Tim Minchin, Adam Bllo, Adam Buxton & Brendan Benson, who were all superb.

Going to take me about a week to get over it.
