Romany
Hi all you ever helpful and very experienced people! Now, I'm about to worm my hens and have bought 1% flubenvet this time. My query is: How on earth do you get the powder to mix in with pellets?! For me it just slides off the pellets and falls to the bottom of the bowl. Can you dampen the pellets to help it stick? But surely that wouldn't distribute it evenly? Or what about putting some on a grape or something - how do you go about getting the right quantity on each? I used to use 2.5% but it was a year ago with the old batch of chickens and I don't remember the dosage anyway, but I think I put it on sweetcorn. Any tips? Egluntyne
I coat the pellets with a dollop of cod liver oil.
Romany
Ah oil - that's a good idea... I was a bit concerned about the moisture in water affecting the meds but oil is probably better... If I don't have cod liver oil but do have a sunflower oil spray do you think that is ok? It's not exactly healthy though...
Redwing
It will be fine, mix the powder and a little oil with a small amount of pellets then mix those with a bigger amount of pellets and so on until you have the required amount of pellets coated If you just bung the powder and oil with yor final amount of pellets you will find it hard to get it mixed in
Romany
Great - thats sorted then... I feel much better about getting the right amount into each of them now. Just remembered I have an old bottle of Good Oil too so I'l use that and boost up the Omega at the same time Thanks guys - I knew I could count on you!
