New running shoes & Blisters

Recommended Posts

Have a big event coming up - Great North Run in Newcastle on 20th September, so yesterday I bought my new running shoes at £loads and even paid £9 for a pair of anti blister running socks. My shoes were this years model of ones I always wear. Anyway went out for a run and ouch - blisters!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! At about 4 miles from home I had to phone my son to bring me plasters on his bike, such was the pain :evil: Hope I can sort this out otherwise I'll be walking to Gateshead :oops: and the kids won't be at all amused.

Ouch!! Hope the blisters heal up soon! Best of luck for the GNR!! :clap::clap:

Ooops - I had to edit this as I put G.N.R being lazy instead of Great North Run and ended up with a chook!! Just shows - laziness doesn't pay!!

hmmm, I have the same problem with my 'anti-blister' socks, but not when I'm running, oh no, only when I do aerobics in them lol

I think maybe your new running shoes are partly to blame too, hopefully it should settle down in a while.

Good luck for the great north run - I feel really humble now as I'm only doing the 10k middlesbrough pride run on Sunday :oops: Maybe next year :whistle:

Can you try putting in your old insoles are even some Superfeet? That might alter the shape of your shoes inside and make them more comfortable. I doubt the socks are to blame unless they are much thinner or thicker than your training ones. I run in New Balance and always put Superfeet in them. I bought a pair of light as a feather trail shoes at their outlet shop in the sale last week and they are so supremely comfortable I went back for another pair for when the first ones wear out. Good luck in the Great North. Come and do the much smaller Langdale Christmas Pudding. It's great fun in the hilly roads up here. Three years ago it was snowing :lol::lol:

I wear two pairs of socks in my walking boots to prevent blisters and I have done the same with my new trainers after getting really sore feet just using the cross-trainer at the gym.

I think with this method any friction occurs between the two layers of socks rather than between sock and skin. It works for me anyway.

Good Luck on the 20th.

Ive just started running again :D

I was down to do the Great North Run, but I havent trained any where near as much as I should, so Im going to defer my number until next year and start training in anger :D

I need to have a timetable training plan, so I know, ie, monday I do x miles, tuesday is rest day, etc, or I wont do it :oops: I also LOVE running in the cold and wet, so now is a great time to get my act together :D

so go me :dance::dance:
