Do ex batts go broody easily?

Recommended Posts

In my own personal experience ex batts don't go broody. I have had 6 ex batt girls over the past 3 years an none of them have gone broody.

My Banties and my pure breed on the other hand go broody at a drop of a hat (or should that be egg  )

Hybrid chickens (which exbatts are) are not supposed to go broody in theory

One of my ex-batts went broody once. We were all set for a several week sit in but she got bored after 2 days and went and had a dust bath instead.

She's the only one to do that from the 12 ex-batts I've adopted over the years. It's not unknown but quite uncommon for ex-batts so I think you'll be fine.

Enjoy your new girls.
