SteveL Posted September 5, 2009 Share Posted September 5, 2009 Well my new Girls arrived about 2 weeks ago. I set their eglu up with chicken wire under their run and coop as we live on a small farm and have tons of Fox, Racoons, and Hawks. The ladies still dont want me to touch them but come to about a foot away. I had a neighbor help me clip a wing on each of them...so they really hate me now. I plan on letting them out of the run sunday about an hour b4 dark so I can hang near by them. I also fiqure the first time out can be a short one. After that they will only have supervised walks in the fields and compost piles due to the preditors. So far my two weeks of chicken keeping has been fun...and yes I do check every day for eggs...I know I still have time. Steve Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I also have coyotes and Minks...the minks worry me as they can get into almost anything and kill for fun. With luck my cats and dogs will help to keep them away. Regardless my girls will be able to go out only when we can watch them.
