Our dog was in kennels for 12 days recently and he seems to have developed a bit of a sneeze .... any ideas?

 

He is a cairn terrier. 7 years old. Fully vaccinated.

It might not be kennel related - Jazz has a pollen allergy and she's sneezing a lot at the moment.

It could be an upper respiratory tract infection or in human terms 'a cold'. Pet colds are caused by airborne virus and bacteria and dog kennels are a good source of infection.

 

Like a common cold it should resolve itself but any secondary bacterial infections might need vet treatment.

Could easily be a variation of 'kennel cough'. They can sneeze an 'reverse' sneeze which is more of a snort.

Assume he had the Kennel cough vaccination?

 

My friends dog caught Kennel cough without going in kennells - assuem it was from mixing with other dogs in the park.

 

When she went to the vets she wasnt allowed in there but the vet came out to the car.

 

Personally I would get it checked out - just in case.

My Ruby has recently had a cold and cough - she's fine now, but do keep an eye on your dog as it can escalate on occasion.

Thanks for your replies and advice everyone. The snuffles seem to be getting better but I am keeping an eye on him.
