TAJ
This is information on OH colleagues poorly ex-batt: Symptoms; Swollen belly between her legs Runny Poo Comb is not red and fallen over Generally not well Not laying and has not done so since I had her at Easter She is eating at the moment and the other two seem quite well. Sounds like peritonitis to me? Tracy

MedusA
Yup. Peritonitis would get my vote too, I'm sad to say.

Hen Watch
Sounds like it to me too. My Henny has it on, then off, then on again. She had it last week, swollen up like a balloon, but today whilst a little swollen she looks ok again. Here she is this June, with a swollen belly and legs really, really wide apart (when compared with the other chooks). Sometimes she has less feathers underneath and you can see lots of skin. Vet gave her course of antibiotics and worming injections which worked initially. But it came back, then she had vet prescribed diuretic tablets, which worked....... but then it came back. Now my hen is happy, eating, perky and not in distress, but she does get this still on and off and I think we will just have to live with it. However your friends hen sounds poorly so perhaps a trip to the vet.
