KateG
Victoria has laid 2 eggs now, first was 42g, second was 48g. Are they likely to remain this sort of size or do they get bigger as she gets more mature? There was an egg in there this morning, much much smaller than the others (less than 20g). Is that likely to be hers or could it be one of the others (who haven't started laying yet)?
Ain't Nobody Here
They should get bigger. I was getting eggs between about 65g and 75g once mine were established layers. The tiny one may just be an extra one but it could well be a first egg! Have you got the exact weight? It qualifies for the Small Egg Leader Board . Space Chick
My established layers that I've had from POL have had the following increases in size (not that I keep a spreadsheet or anything ) Rose - 1st egg 47g, now 68g (5 months later) Donna - 1st egg 55g, now 60g (3 months later) Sarah-Jane - 1st egg 35g, now 54g (5 months later) Hope this helps you
lozboz
My chucks eggs were funny when she started to lay, they were the size of a cadbury creme egg, they gave everyone a good giggle but i was still so proud. She has been laying since the end of July and there getting bigger
KateG
Thank you all. I can't tell you how excited I am every morning now! I had another tiddler this mornig, looks a little different to the ones we know victoria has been laying, so I'm hoping Martine has joined in with the egg laying. Ain't Nobody Here
We got a tiddler this morning too . I'm hoping it's Poppy's first as Penny has laid 2 which are quite a big bigger (but still tiddly ).
DebC
Glad to hear that I'm not the only one who keeps a spread sheet! My husband thinks I'm mad, but then I caught him working out the average weight for Britttni's eggs after Chardonnay laid her first beautiful white egg of 68g! He's fallen for the girls big time - this evening he did extra potatoes just for them!
