Emily and Nick
Hi, We're going away for the night tonight for the first time since I got my new girls. We have an eglu and 3 hens and I'm still a novice really. If I leave enough food and water and keep them in the eglu run, will they be ok for a night? It means that I won't be around to close the eglu door once they've roosted. So they will spend the night with the eglu door open. Is this what people do normally? Please advise! Thanks Emily
Egluntyne
They will be fine. As an extra bit of security I would make sure that the run is well weighted down.
Christian
I leave mine open all year round, unless it is really cold. As long as the run door is locked, they have food and water, they should be fine.
Emily and Nick
Thanks for putting my mind at rest! I have put bricks round the outside of the run flaps and the winter cover is on the eglu. Emily
