B&Qs Self Service Tills!! Ggggrrrrr!!!!

Recommended Posts

I'm not keen on self service tills, I think they're ok if you're only buying a couple of items but when I tried to get a basket full of shopping it kept having problems and I had a queue of people glaring at me and the poor assistant run ragged as the other 3 people at the self service tills were also having problems.

If people want to use them then fine, but those of us who don't want to shouldn't be forced to, yet another cost cutting exercise at the expense of good customer service :(

I agree with everything said - I cannot stand this automaton world. Yesterday the car tax ordered over the internet hadnt arrived OH threatening divorce - why hadnt I gone to PO blah blah blah - and when after 20 mins of music and instruction I finally got a male voice on the other end - I told him he;d have my divorce on his conscience if he made me hold on for another machine - bless him he duly told me what to do. I will join the queue of OAPs and benefit folk next time and quietly seethe when only 1 person is serving.

I always talk to them to.

I LOVE the idea BUT I am amazing at stuffing them up! I can't ever do it without making a pigs ear of it - using my own bags and messing up the weighing or buying stuff that has the wrong weight or even buying stuff that's been reduced.

Our local ASDA (NOT somewhere I frequent very often!) has them set on maximum volume so that they SHOUT and deafen you! Add into that mix that I have an ASDA credit card - which I only use in ASDA, mostly for petrol (the petrol station is unmanned here). It gets used maybe once a month. It works fine in the petrol station, it works fine at the checkout but in the self-service it will NOT work! Last time the woman came over and said "have you got another card" I said yes but there is nothing wrong with that one - except THIS till doesn't like it!!!

I much prefer the machine in Waitrose, I scan my shopping straight from the shelves into my bag then at the end I go to the friendly machine and pay. That machine doesn't shout, doesn't reject my card. Shame it doesn't stamp my parking ticket though!

Oooooh, Asda cards! We've got one, again mostly used for petrol now that Asda petrol stations are all unmanned. Unmanned petrol stations are far worse than diy tills, in my humble opinion...

Now I like unmanned petrol stations. People are sooo funny - I had a bloke pulled up behind me in a banger fiesta and was drumming on his steering wheel and looking pointedly at his watch whilst I filled up. Now you know how petrol stations work, large middle aged man in vest in fiesta is gonna put a fiver in. Woman in new Mondeo is gonna fill the tank, which takes a while. Anyway he was looking sooo annoyed with me that I did something you can't normally do in a petrol station as there is a limit.....I filled up ALL FOUR petrol cans that were in my boot :D:evil:
