The GO a good choice for small birds?

Recommended Posts

I was just thinking the new Go looks lower to the ground and as you could remove the whole of the roosting bars & nesting box it looks as though it would give better floor space for growers than the 'classic'.

Anyone seen it that could comment? - I am still concerned the big door at the back would make it harder to trap & catch the birds though.

I was going to buy one for 'dinner chickens' yesterday because you can take the nesting box and roosting bars out so they'd have a lot more room as they could use the extra bit from the nesting box space and its taller inside without having the sloped roof, so it'd give a bit of extra room that way.

The tray that pulls out is good because its (if I remember properly) a whole tray and not tapered at the front like the classic, so the bedding would stay in at the front and not fall into the run like my lot do  .

It was the table birds I was thinking of - I raise 5-6 in a 'classic', but have just hatched 11 so need more room and this did look a more useable space for growing table birds.

I think it'd be really good for table birds, and the price being lower helps too (for me having to buy it all myself anyway), the only disadvantage being the door on the back, but even then you can undo it and slide it either side or only open a bit at the top and get a bird through that way.

The insides are grey so would keep cockerels quieter aswell, which would make my Dad happier.

Do 5-6 get on ok in a classic, I was wondering how many I could raise in a Go? (Maybe a question for Self Sufficiency?)
