dippy bird
I really need to put one on Elsie as she is being awful to the other girls and is drawing blood. Myself and my OH had a go today but failed (I ended up coated in chicken poo ), whats the easiest way?The bits don't seem to be very flexible? Space Chick
You need round circlips pliers. I think there is something in the FAQ's section
Olly
There's some info and useful links here. Circlip pliers make it easier, as does soaking the bit in hot water beforehand.
TAJ
I have only ever fitted one, but we did it in 5 mins and it is still in months later. Warm the bit in warm water to make it more flexible. Then one person wraps chicken up in a towel so wings cannot flap, feet canot scratch. That person then sits with chicken on their lap and hold head still. 2nd person takes warm bit, opens it with pliers and puts it into position quickly and firmly - make sure it gets into the nose. Job done! Tracy
Ain't Nobody Here
Do you have to have pliers ?
TAJ
Do you have to have pliers ? Without pliers there are two problems, firstly they are tough to open and secondly your fingers get in the way. With pliers you open the bit using one hand and still have the other hand free to help position it. Without pliers you are pulling out both sides, so do not have a hand free - personally I cannot do this, not enough strength. Tracy
Egluntyne
It is the job of moments with a pair of pliers. Ask around the street, there is bound to be someone with a pair in their toolbox. They only cost around £7 or so from Halfords in any case. You want the straight ones.
purplefowler
I don't use pliers. It is alittle awkward but do able. You need to make sure that you put the bar that goes in the mouth in with the nose pegs going over the top of the beak so you can slide it down, rather than trying to open it wide and up from inside. Hot water is a must too. I hope that made some sense.
