Karen & co.
I popped onto the BHWT forum last night to see what was happening, and was sad to find that it is having to close There are a few rather cross members, but perhaps they may find us instead karen x
Lesley
Why is it having to close Karen?
Karen & co.
Not sure really but a number of members seem rather ticked off about it. I think they are trying to form a new forum, organised by one of the members. I hope they keep the links to the rescue co-ordinators on the original site, as that is where I got the info for my rescue girls from karen x
Cate in NZ
Oh, no I've been on there on a few occasions in the past, particularly when my ex-batts were new and I had specific questions. They all seemed very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately I've not visited there for ages. I haven't really got enough free time even for this forum , and trying to keep up with others is simply impossible. Such a pity though. Cate in NZ
I'm only guessing here as I know nothing, and it is a lovely forum. But I nipped over for a nosey yesterday , and there were a few postings that were mildly critical of the battery farming system. So I'm guessing that the BHWT feels the need to distance itself from critics of the system...... after all they can think whatever they like as individuals, but in order to work effectively with the battery farmers they absolutely can't afford to be seen as supporting critics.... or providing a forum for those critics to speak from . As I say, just my guess, and it's a real pity that all that expertise on caring for ex-batts is going, but I'm sure that they'll set up another forum in another guise with isn't quite as directly associated with BHWT. I'm actually in support, overall, of the forum closing .
ubereglu
They have now closed the BHWT forum, but a very kind member has set up a new forum to replace the old BHWT one on the yahoo groups section of Yahoo. (Which I am now a member of) Can't remember the address right now, but if you type in battery hens into the search-once you've clicked on yahoo groups I'm sure you'll find it! buffie
I haven't heard the full story yet but will let you know as soon as I get the update from Jane. BBx I've spoken to Jane and I agree with the reasons. More info on the website. We have to keep a distance from any comments that may affect future relations with the British farmers, who do support our work. The bigger picture is the most important one and that's the hens future, hope everyone understands. BBx
