2009 Omlet cube and run for sale

Our new cube has arrived- yippeeeeee!! But, its taller than i thought (i dont know what i thought but hey!) can i put it up against a fence or are my exbats likely to jump on it then over the fence?? I've got a standard eglu at the mo and they've never jumped onto that, but i've only had them 6 weeks so are still getting their strength up.

 

For tidyness i would prefer it up along the fence instead of sticking out.

 

Ideas please?

I dont think you can put it alongside a fence as you need access to both sides, one to get to the egg port and the other to shut the chooks in at night. You will also need to get to the back to clean it

I thought of that too, Which is why i'm not keen on it stickingout, coz it'd have to have space behind to access droppings tray. If i put it by the fence it will have to be about a foot out to get me to egg port, but was worried about jumping chooks!

My light sussex girls can get to the top of the cube, but they've not had their wings clipped like my other hens.

My cube is against the fence on the eggport side, & they've not tried to escape over it.

My friend has exbats and they don't leap like mine do, so you are probably ok. Why not put it where you want then move it if it causes problems

I have no idea how high an eglu cube is but I have a wooden house which is a similar design - i.e. house on legs with run attached and space under the house to shelter.

 

I have had my ex batts less than a week and they have already discovered they can harrier jump jet on to the top of the run.

 

It is up against the fence at the moment but won't be for much longer!!!
