Purple on comb

Recommended Posts

My chicken muggles has a purple tint on the end of her comb......she has always has a big floppy bright red comb but over the last few weeks noticed it go slightly purple on the one end.

Theres nothing else wrong with her she's eating, jumping around, pooing and playing as normal. Although she is off laying at the moment and she is a ex-bat.

no signs of other illness in her at all.

is this quite normal for them? could it be the cold/damp. they are all in a cube so they are all nice and warm.

Any ideas

It can be a sign of poor circulation / heart problems, but not always. It could be a time of year change too - is she laying and has she moulted yet?

If she's okay in all other respects, don't worry, just keep an eye on here. Mine scare me like that sometimes too.

OH says i worry about them too much :lol::lol::lol:

She's an ex-batt and still hasn't got all her feathers back yet even though i've had her since april, not sure why she still lacks in the feather dept she had far more than one of my other ex-bat and she got all hers back ages ago.

She was a good layer then she broke her leg in June, since then mostly softy's but the occasional good one. i think the trauma of a broken leg may of affected her feather growth and egg production or just the fact she's an ex-bat.

even though she has the above she's a very happy chicken and the most interested out of all of them in everything i do in the garden. :D
